Owen Davis Award Charter

From IdCommons

Name

Owen Davis Award

Purpose

The purpose of the Award is to acknowledge those who have shown exemplary dedication to the 'good of the community.

Background

By Andy Dale: While many of us were trying to build businesses to gain from the emerging ideas of User Centric thinking Owen and Andrew started Identity Commons 1.0 as they understood that the only way that any of us could succeed was by working together. To this day if I am trying to differentiate self-serving motivations from community-serving ones, Owen is my go-to guy. I also would not be involve in these efforts if it wasn't for Andrew and Owens early support of my activities.

Principles

Every working group 'inherits' the general principles of Identity Commons itself -- see Purpose And Principles.

Practices

The model that I (kaliya) thought of for this Award was the Dirk Award given to e-riders (nonprofit technology consultants). This award was given originally to Dirk from the community - then after that he and all subsequent award winners were 'the committee' to choose who would be the next recipiants. I trust that those who are award winners and on the committee - will in their spirit of the exemplary dedication to the community will find ways to be inclusive in how they choose the awardees.

Requirements of Participation and How to Join

This award was first given to Andrew and Owen by an informal group in the community. Andrew and Owen are the first to be 'in' the group and subsequent awardee's after will be 'in' the group.
